| Abstract: | The purpose of the article is to explore Italian private sector listed companies' codes of ethics, and to spot possible correlations between sector characteristics and the contents of the codes. The results of a survey are analyzed, first dividing the companies into three categories: financial, industrial and service economies, and then evaluating the contents of the codes of ethics using different criteria. According to the findings of the analysis, the codes of ethics of the analyzed Italian companies do not exhibit differences resulting from their sector of activity. Further, the adoption of codes of ethics in businesses are influenced by other reasons than ethical considerations. |
