Abstract:The possibilities of the West trading with China are considered. The economic, legal, political and cultural aspects of entering and operating in the Chinese market are discussed. To survive and succeed, the ventures must know the roads in front of them and potential short cuts, dangers and obstacles. Many American companies have successfully established and operated joint ventures in China, their experiences and lessons can be summarized as follows: 1. Set up feasible objectives and select an appropriate form of business structure; 2. Select a competent Chinese partner; 3. Chinese managers proved to be more efficient after completing a training program; 4. A harmonious management style that combines the different cultural traditions is essential.
