| Abstract: | In January, after 30 years at Macy.s Jim Pallouras became another layoff statistic; federated's acquisition of Macy's was the culprit. The 51-year-old has since tried to find a job that would take advantage of his skills - he was the retailer's VP of investigations and fraud, making over $100,000. No luck so far. When Fortune offered Pallouras a thorough career makeover, he was a bit skeptical. But in the end he found being unemployed simply unacceptable:"I am a person who needs to work, and it's not just monetary. For my well-being, I have to get back into the maelstrom." |
