| Abstract: | The payments business is hotting up. As revenues fall banks face increasing pressure from new entrants to the real scene and from big players in the wholesale market. What role will banks play in the future payments cycle? With the inevitable rise in electronic payment systems and increasing entry into market from non-bank players, the question on most banks' minds is how they can possibly hold on to the payments franchise. The Boston Consulting Group posed this question as the central theme of a report that was conducted for the Payment Systems International Conference held recently in Switzerland. |
