Abstract: | Analytical rationality as one of the possible ways to rational problem solving is characterized. Formal decision models and social technologies are used in the practice of management in order to meet the requirements of rational action. A lot of factors are mentioned as barriers to full rationality: emotions, lack of facts, lack of transparence, obscure goals etc. Different aspects of rationality in leadership are discussed. Some boundaries of rationality are examined: illusions about objectives, trying to make rational which is in essence irrational, using rationality as a tool of power. Some alternatives to analytical rationality are introduced: intuition, aestethics, trust, interpersonal communication etc. |
