Abstract:Performance appraisals should be aimed at helping everyone in the organization to develop. Performance should relate directly to the incumbents job description and to the goals and objectives established for the employee. Standards of performance should be identified and discussed with each subordinate. The performance appraisal must begin with mutually agreed upon goals, an up-to-date job description and clearly stated standards of performance. With this foundation, the performance appraisal is more objective and well received.
