Abstract:This article investigates some economic aspects of the popular music industry, especially the questions of the behavior of rock groups from a transaction cost perspective. The most optimal combinations of personnel are usually found through difficult processes, which characterize the market of musicians. Most of the value of the property rights is embodied in band name. A wide variety of phenomena in the rock music scene can be explained by applying transactions cost economics to these organisation problems.
