Abstract: | Chanticleer is the only full-time year-round professional classical vocal ensemble in the United States. Chanticleer's stated purpose is to realize "the transcendent power of the choral art." Core organizational values to support that purpose include "collaboration, excellence, innovation and integrity." After the death in 1997 of Louis Botto, Chanticleer's founder and artistic director, a redeveloped board of trustees adapted John Carver's "policy governance" model to guide organizational leadership and development. Today, the Chanticleer "family" collaborates on a national and international touring schedule, recording catalogue, music education program and home-season concerts. |
