Abstract:Like Darwin's concept of continual evolution in developing physical systems that upgrade human performance, business has seen continual improvement of the quality management systems designed to create higher organizational performance. The quality systems currently found in the United States did not occur by chance. They evolved gradually through five separate eras: inspection, statistical quality control, quality assurance, strategic quality management, and quality systems chaining.
