Abstract: | This paper aims to develop and evaluate a framework (here as: f-w.) to examine how global software companies (as: sft-cs.) with successful (as: s-fl.) knowledge management (KM) programs (as: pgs.) create KM-enabled value. The f-w. was evaluated at three global sft-cs. with s-fl. KM pgs. Data were gathered through 20 interviews with various individuals related with the KM pgs. Interviews were content analyzed and the data were sorted into meaningful categories. The study provides evidence of various strategic, technological, and cultural issues influencing the success of KM pgs. in global sft-cs. Firms with s-fl. KM pgs. typically develop three specific capabilities, that is, Articulating the KM strategic intent, Facilitating the knowledge flows to enable innovation, and Assessing KM value. Once developed simultaneously, help firms create KM-enabled value. |
