Abstract:With its 61 000 employees and 49 Mrd USD turnover Cargill is by far the largest corn firm of the world. Its output is equal to 60 p.c. of the production of the European Communities. The company is engaged in 55 countries. Its president is the German Heinz Hütter, who has made a so fast carrer in the USA as only very few newcomers. The article examines the way in which the German manager leads the American corn giant. The different activities of the firms are described /orange juice, fertilizer, meat and even steel production, transportation, and an effort is made to find out the secret of its successes.
