| Abstract: | Corporate restructuring in Europe has increased singificantly over the last few years. European companies are cutting costs, merging, expanding globally, increasing dividends, buying back shares and demerging subsidiary business. And, "this is only the beginning". Dugan and Meroz identify four themes of corporate restructuring: the slowdown in nominal growth, accelerating deregulation in Europe, further consolidation of global sectors and the increasing pressure for companies to become more focused ("corporate clarity"). |
