Abstract:The role of institutional entrepreneurship in the institutional change process that occurs simultaneously with the introduction of a radically new technology is examined in the article with the help of a discourse analytic methodology. The authors concentrate on Kodak and how it transformed photography from a highly specialized activity to a part of everyday life. An initial typology is developed in the article to illustrate the strategies institutional entrepreneurs use, when they are trying to affect the social construction process which leads to a transformation in the institutional fields. The use of discourse analysis in examining institutional change process offers two kinds of ideas. First, it illuminates the process though which institutional fields develop and change. Second, it enlightens how institutional entrepreneurs can act strategically in order to include their own interests in the consequent institutions.
