Abstract:This study deals with some major legal implications of inter-firm technology partnering through equity joint ventures (here as: e-j-vts.), non-equity partnerships (here as: n-e-p-ships.), and licensing contracts (as: lic-ctrs). While considering issues of intellectual property rights (IPRs), the different p-ships. are placed within the classical and relational contracting (as: ctrn.) perspectives (as: prsp./prsps.) Samples of contracts of p-ships. in bio-science, fine chemicals, biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals are analyzed. E-j-vts. and n-e-p-ships. are found to largely follow a relational ctrn. prsp., while lic-ctrs. are governed by a classical ctrn. prsp.
