Abstract: | Based on prior research, this paper identifies and provides an in-depth understanding of two specific self-regulatory strategies (hereafter as: strs.): 1. formulating an implementation plan, and 2. remembering past actions for decision makers (here as: dec-mks.) to be used in facilitating enactment of effortful decisions. Based on results of three experiments, it is shown that for goals that dec-mks. chose volitionally, the motivational effects (as: mot-effs.) of both strs. lay in increasing levels of proximal implementation-related variables significantly. In contrast, for goals that were assigned to participants, these strs.' mot-effs. additionally extended to significantly increasing distal goal-related variables. |
