Abstract: | This article is based on an interview of Gerry George, an associate professor of entrepreneurship at London Business School. He tells about a study focusing on the extent to which the expansion of technological capabilities affects the innovative activity of the firm. The dataset consists of 128 biotechnology firms. Branching is beneficial most likely when a company stays relatively close to its existing level of technology. In addition, the issues of learning capacity and intuition are discussed. |
