Abstract:The study is designed to identify the successful information system methods process-oriented firms use to accomplish planning and control functions, the factors that influence their selection of those methods that support these functions, and the relationship between influential factors and planning and control systems. Detailed case studies are conducted in firms, using a previsit questionnaire and an on-site interview instrument, in order to determine how planning and control functions are determined and what environmental factors influence the designing of systems. The implications provide an important direction for future research.
