Abstract: | The goal of optimal manpower scheduling is to construct schedules which satisfy all of the constraints of a given manpower scheduling problem using no more than the minimum number of workers required by the constraints. Usually this process involves first determining a lower bound on the workforce size and then presenting an algorithm which constructs a feasible schedule using exactly that necessary workforce. Utilized is a network model of the problem to model its multiple shift aspect and provide new lower bounds on workforce size. |
