Abstract:A review of the critical response to the U.K. government draft statutory code on trade union industrial action balloting and the view it contains inflexible standards that are not derived from the law. The condemnation of the code by the TUC and its attitude, and viewpoint of the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service. A review of the views expressed by the director of personnel at Nissan Motor Manufacturing /U.K./ on need for managements to concentrate on relationships with individuals rather than their representatives, linked with emphasis on flexibility, teamwork and quality. Review of the report of the Labour Research Department on the likely job losses in the U.K. due to the single European market in 1992.
