Abstract:Appropriate marketing and accounting control measures enable managers to realize the full business potential of the firm. A framework incorporating selected marketing and accounting measures is proposed to monitor products according to market growth and market share. The measures were tested in terms of their appropriateness with a sample of 492 managers in steel and textile firms in the USA, Mexico, Egypt, and India. Results of the investigation indicate varied support for the measures in the framework. However, the findings serve as a basis for assessing and choosing strategies under various growth-share conditions. The advantage of the comparative, cross-cultural approach is demonstrated.
