Abstract:The external causes for the gap in economy between the eastern and the western area in China are as follows: 1.irrational prices, 2.the influences of the old economic system model, 3.being driven by the strategic idea of enabling a number of areas and people to become prosperous and gradually achieving common prosperity. The internal causes are the different historical process, geographical conditions, cultural quality and ideological concepts. The countermeasures for narrowing the gap are to stick to the policies of opening "in all directions" and tilting to the western area, to adjust industrial policies, and to turn the superiority of resources to the one of products, thus forming the superiority of commodities.
