Abstract:US regional banks have a better record and stock-market rating than money center banks. This fact has a simple reason: regional banks have stronger stock prices and higher market values than their rivals have. Further, these advantages stem from higher returns on equities. The huge difference in profitability is explained by several factors: Degree of balance in mix. Choice of markets served. Expense efficiency. Level of loan loss. Credit rating.Mismatch income. Degree of leverage. The chief difference between the regional and the money center banks is in profits from their liabilities.
