Abstract:The article introduces the corporate education iceberg, and argues that many organizations only see the tip of the iceberg, which represents formal education, such as university programs, vocational training programs, and seminars. However, below the water line many informal learning methods, such as mentor support and work-based projects can be detected, which don't often get as much attention. There is emerging research that indicates about 20% of the employee learning takes place through formal education channels, whereas 80% of the learning occurs through informal and workplace learning.
