Abstract:The author sets out some of the key issues confronting the transition economies in Europe in adjusting policies to generate trade and investment with Western industrialized economies, in organizing effective trade promotion to develop external markets for their output, and in reducing trade barriers. These transition economies comprise all the Central and Eastern Europe Countries, together with the Commonwealth of Newly Indipendent States of the former Soviet Union.
