Abstract:The UK market for concentrated soft drinks: products sold at full strength are considered (carbonates, fruit juices and mineral water are excluded). 6.5 billion litres of soft drinks were sold in 1991, with a retail value of GBP 4.2 billion. Total volumes fell by 7 percent in 1991 to 6.5 billion litres. After several years of consistent growth, sales were badly hit by recession. The concentrates sector accounts for under 11 percent of market value, it was the less vulnerable in 1991, with volumes down 2 percent. Diet concentrates are an expanding segment, worth GBP 40 million in 1991.
