Abstract:Carbonated soft drinks are by for the biggest component of the soft drinks market, with 1992 sales worth 3,5bn of pounds sterling, just over 60% of total soft drinks sales. Household consumption , mainly supplied by major grocery chains selling large PET bottles and can multipacks, has increased its share at the expense of casual consumption and leisure trade sectors. Household consumption is dominated by households with children and is highest in the main urban areas. Market size is forecast to rise to 4,8bn litres in 1997, worth 4, 3bn of pounds sterling, assuming average summer weather.
