Abstract: | The new style ready-to-drink (or RTD) energy and sports drinks, excluding one exception, are a recent addition to the field of soft drinks. Some newly launched brands have given rise to the creation of a new niche in the energy drinks sector or "smart" drinks which relate to the human mind as well. From 1995 onwards, there has been a great influx of brands. The traditional retail channel for sports drinks has been sports clubs and shops, chemists and health food outlets. For energy drinks, particularly in the stimulation drinks niche, night clubs have been all-important. The impulse sector, however, is rapidly getting more important as one of the key sources for purchasing these products. |
