Abstract:Colas are the most important sector in the market. In 1997 this sector had sales of 675.2 million litres, which represented 42.1% of volume sales and was valued at FF3,078.9 million corresponding to 32.7% of value sales. The nascent sprots/other drinks sector was the most dynamic in the market over the review period. From a low base this sector registered 728.6% volume growth between 1993 and 1997. The still drinks sector put in the poorest performance, falling in volume terms by 16.7%. Product innovation was the key factor in stimulating growth in the tea drinks and sports/other drinks sectors. In 1997, total volume sales equalled 1,604 million litres, up by 9.8% on the 1993 figure. Value sales in the market reached FF9,424.6 million, an increase of 15.1% on 1993.
