Abstract:Burgeoning business opportunities in India for foreign investors are well worth the bit of careful strategic planning required to maneuver around the bureaucratic course. Although free-market reforms have spurred foreign investment in India, bureaucratic hurdles continue to shackle foreign investors and impede the flow of investment. From July 1991 when the free-market reform policy started - to December 1994, almost 19,000 foreign investment proposals worth $130 billion were filed with the government.
