Abstract:In 1996, the economic growth presented a trend of falling again steadily but still kept a higher growth rate. The growth of investment in fixed assets sped up gradually. The demand for investment was still the main factor pulling economic growth. The stable growth of demand for consumption played a supporting role in economic growth. But the pulling role of demand for export, which decreased greatly weakened apparently. The industrial economic returns slid down and the problem of low quality of economic growth became conspicuous. In 1997, China will see a new high tide of economic growth because of the 15th National Party Congress to be convened and the return of Hong Kong. So, there will be possibility of economic expansion and high- speed economic growth and at the same time, China will face serious consequences induced by over heated economy.
