Abstract:The Internet provides new opportunities to offer customized products to customers, and customization also is more feasible, since the manufacturing technologies have improved. The authors develop a model of product customization and flexible pricing to incorporate the salient roles of Internet and flexible manufacturing technologies in reducing the costs of designing and producting tailored consumer goods.
