Abstract:Enterprise systems (ES) are commonly supposed to lead to significant efficiency gains. However, this is only the case for well-implemented ES that are well-aligned with the organization. This paper proposes a new approach based on configurable process models, which reflect ES functionalities. The paper provides a taxonomy of situations possible to occur from a business perspective during process model configuration (here as: conf). The taxonomy is represented through so-called semantic conf. patterns (as: pts). So-called syntactic conf. pts. are discussed. This second type of conf. pts. implements the semantic conf. pts. for specific modelling techniques. Two popular process modelling languages are selected to illustrate this paper's approach.
