Abstract:This paper provides alternative explanations for corporate philantrophy based on top managements' values of benevolence and integrity. Corporate philantrophy can regarded as a direct result of top managers' benevolence and integrity values. In addition, the paper argues that top managers with those values are likely to improve corporate financial performance. In conclusion, both corporate philantrophy and financial performance can be causal effects of managers' benevolence and integrity values.
