| Abstract: | According to a British-Chinese agreement, Hongkong will return to China in 1997 but will remain a capitalistic economy. Some bankers do not believe in this plan, therefore they are leaving Hongkong. Other bankers are optimists, they assume China will need Hongkong as a financial intermediator. It has substantial advantages over Singapore, Taiwan and even Tokyo, in costs, expertise and business freedom. |
