Abstract:A rapproachment can be seen between multinational corporations (MNCs) and the nation-state. These two forces, once thought to be ideologically incompatible, are now coming together. This convergence process between MNCs and the nation-state is analysed and it is stated that the tide of global enterprise need not be short term. If properly nurtured, a new MNCs ethos could emerge as a part of the idiom of international strategy. Strategic partnership reduces tensions between private and public enterprise. Simply stated, it is difficult to be hostile to one's economic allies. But whatever the organizational design, international business must foster a partnership mentality with government. Of course, there are limits in this collaboration.
