| Abstract: | Using general notions of dynamic systems theory a general measure for flexibility is derived. This measure comprises properties like variability and reactivity to actions. It takes into account the stochastics of external disturbances, the decision maker's planning ability and his performance criteria. Further more flexibility also accounts for uncertainty and instability in the preference structure of the decision maker. The defined flexibility measure is compared with such common notions like robustness and elasticity. As a main result it turns out that elasticity may be considered as a rudimental flexibility and robustness and flexibility itself as general service levels. |
