Abstract: | How does an entrepreneurial team convince a venture capital firm to fund its new high-tech business in the face of the enormous market and product uncertainties endemic to the field? The results of studies that shed light on the decision-making processes of two venture capital firms are presented. In addition, twenty business plans are analyzed, finding a number of deficiencies that smart entrepreneurs would do well to study. The conclusions transcend the field of high technology, offering practical, solid advice for technological entrepreneurs. In today's highly selective investment environment , they had better map out their strategies for raising funds just as carefully as they plan their overall market development. |
