Abstract:This article will argue that competitiveness and the drive for high performance does not need to be contradictory to the ethic of good corporate citizenship. Indeed, they are potentially mutually reinforcing in a way which can contribute much to the successful functioning of companies and the wider society within which business takes place. A freely competitive market place is the essential condition for efficient production of the goods and services that we need and want, claims the author of the article.
