| Abstract: | The Latvian Institute of Economics conducted a special survey in 1996 among companies to identify their competitiveness-related factors. The survey involved 85 industrial companies from six sectors, 45 of them state- owned, and 45 privately-owned: food products and materials; chemicals; clothing, footwear and materials; wood and wood products; metals, machinery and equipment; glass and porcelain. The author looks at issues which affect the business environment in Latvia. |
