| Abstract: | In this report, political (henceforth as: pol.) risks of Belarus, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine are analyzed from a foreign firm's viewpoint. For foreign investors (herein as: f-invs.), Russia's increasing economic nationalism means increasing investment risks. The pol. climate in Ukraine is unfavourable to foreign investment, allthough not to a degree to prevent or seriously limit the operating possibilities in the market. The pol. risk in Belarus is related to the centralization of authority over economic policy. In Moldova, pol. risks for f-invs. are clearly present in the economically and politically problematic situation. Overall, pol. risk stays risen in all four countries in question. |
