Abstract:Artificial intelligence (AI) is a new technique of computer science emulating the capabilities of human beings. An area of AI called expert systems which emulates the reasoning of human experts in a particular domain, is right now in full progress. Specially in sciences as economics and management, reasoning is often based on heuristics and uncertainties. AI systems are well adapted to these types of reasoning because they use not only declarative information but also procedural knowledge. These new techniques are presented in a survey of applications such as financial management, law and administration, decision and strategy in companies, people management, housing diagnosis and urbanning plan and economic conjuncture analyses.
