Abstract:The potential organizational impact of expert systems, in particular, the impact on decision making, organizational structure, degree of decentralization, level of organizational roles, leadership and power, communications and information flow and the personal requirements of the organization are examined. The nature and magnitude of the impact can be described as a function of many factors, four of which: the suitability of tasks to expert systems, the purpose of use of the expert system, its tools, and the expert system computing environment are considered.
