Abstract: | The role of an Early Warning System (EWS) in environmental scanning is to supply information about the probable changes which can have deep influence on the developmental processes of the firm. There are two main types of EWS-s: the one is based on structurally constant warning indicators, the other uses structurally variable week signals. The possible ways of perceiving environmental discontinuities. Some results of the artificial intelligence research that contribute to the EWS development. The application of the function of diffusion, inquiry into discontinuities, content analysis of texts prepared in natural languages. The effective use of information sources by expert systems makes it possible to build up active EWS-s. |
