Abstract: | The concept of z-situation, introduced by E. Gutenberg to describe the technical quality of equipment, can be used to incorporate dynamic features into production theory: first, long-term trends like technical progress, experience curve, and wear and tear can be considered; secondly, the concept enables to include oscillating effect like the interactions of wear and tear and maintenance. The second aspect is focused on, that is: the z-situation is considered as the degree of wear and tear. The output of a plant can be adjusted to a given time path of sales by varying work hours and the production rate. |
