| Abstract: | LTV Aerospace and Defense Co employees use ordinary e-mail to access mainframe, midrange and LAN databases. Although e-mail was originally intended for sending messages between people, it turned out to be a perfectly good mechanism for communicating with computers, too. An outline of the application of mail-enabling software at LTV is presented. Mail-enabling directives at LTV are explained. Prime application candidates for mail enabling are listed, and e-mail application enablers (products) and their vendors are shown. |
