Abstract:The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 says that information systems (IS) must be accessible to employees with disabilities. Despite of reactions by several IS managers, a wide range of products are now available that enable a person with almost any physical disability to perform almost any job that demands a computer. The ADA leaves IS with the job of making computers accessible to disabled workers. Some products are shown that can be used by blinds and by those who cannot use their hands at all. Some case stories of companies complying with ADA are presented, and a list of advisors to accomodate employees with special needs is given.
