Abstract:Remote local area network (LAN) access is growing in popularity, but the methods to achieve it vary widely in features and performance. Using a dedicated 386/486 PC, Novell's Netware Access Server software enables up to 16 remote users to dial into and access all resources available on a NetWare LAN. Other products are also available for establishing remote LAN connections (some are listed). Case stories of information services that have introduced remote network access are presented. The common requirement of any of the three basic approaches to providing remote LAN access is fast performance.
