Abstract:Two field studies were conducted. Study 1 examined the contribution of the joint condition of supervisor close monitoring and the presence of creative coworkers to employees´ creativity. The results indicated that close monitoring and the presence of creative coworkers contributed to creativity such that when creative coworkers were present and supervisor monitoring was minimal, the greater the employees creativity. Study 2 examined the joint condition of supervisor developmental feedback and presence of creative coworkers and whether creative personality moderated the contributions of the two joint conditions. The results demonstrated as with study 1 that creativity was greater with the presence of coworkers and low close monitoring.
