| Abstract: | The purpose of this article is to examine the climate for business opportunities in Slovakia in the historical, political, cultural and economic contexts and to compare and contrast the differing visions for the future from the the business perspective. The author concludes that pumping money into a semi-reformed economy will reap scant benefit. Investment is needed in carefully targeted areas with an emphasis on improving quality, management and marketing. Close co-operation with the EC, including the modelling of legislation in line with EC norms, is now possible in the areas of economics, politics, cultural, financial and institutional matters. This door to the EC market is vital for anyone contemplating doing business in Slovakia. |
