Abstract:Post-Keynesian economists view inflation as a symptom of a struggle over the distribution of income. In the article a simple model based on the wage-cost mark-up relation is presented to show the interaction of profit and wage pressures on the aggregate price level. The analysis of possible outcomes leads to conclusion that while restriction of money supply is inevitable to cure inflation when it has started, incomes policies are the most effective instrument for preventing distributional conflict and inflation to arise at all.
